Turin Brakes are a modern folk pop duo comprising two friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian, hailing from Balham, London, signed to the Source label.

The duo’s sound has often garnered comparisons to many of the new acoustic movement’s bands which surfaced in the late nineties such as Elbow, Starsailor, I Am Kloot and Kings of Convenience.

To date the band have released four studio albums and one live album. With each record it would seem the band try to change their sound slightly, whilst their debut, The Optimist, features a lot of acoustic guitar, Ether Song featured more electric guitar and was a lot darker. Their third album Jackinabox can be seen as a combination of the first two, with added funk influences and Dark On Fire is a much more glossy effort, with a highly produced full-band sound.

In January this year Turin Brakes announced that their forthcoming album Outbursts will be released on 1st March 2010.
