Progressive rock and pop band It Bites hail from Cumbria, England and formed in 1982. Members of It Bites then relocated to London in 1984 and signed a record contract with Virgin soon after. They released their debut album ‘The Big Lad In The Windmill’ in 1986, which contained the hit single ‘Calling All Te Heroes’, which reached number six in the UK singles chart. Their sophomore, “Once Around The World’ followed in 1988. This particular album noted a departure from the more pop orientated sound of the first album and contained the group’s fourteen-minute magnum opus ‘Once Around The World’. The album also spawned the hits ‘Midnight’ and ‘Kiss Like Judas’. ‘Eat Me Like Judas’ – the band’s third and final album with the original line up saw its release in 1989 and contained a harder edged guitar dominant sound, it also featured the hit single ‘Still Too Young To Remember’. Francis Dunnery left the band in 1990 to pursue a solo career. For a brief period only, ex-Innocence Lost front man Lee Knott was advertised as the new singer of It Bites. Soon after though the band would change their name to Navajo Kiss and then Sister Sarah before It Bites would go on indefinite hiatus. Following this a live album titled ‘Thankyou and Goodnight’ was released in 1991 featuring material recorded during the band’s Eat Me In St. Louis tour. It Bites briefly reformed in August 2003 when the remaining It Bites members joined Francis Dunnery on stage during one of his solo concerts. Following this it was announced that It Bites would be getting back together to write and record a new album though this was never realised due to Dunnery’s hectic schedule back in the U.S. It Bites has since reformed with Arena/Kino guitarist John Mitchell taking Dunnery’s place alongside original members John Beck and Bob Dalton. |
