Ellie Goulding will release her new single ‘Starry Eyed’ on February 22nd on Polydor Records. Her debut album ‘Lights’ will follow on March 1st. She recently topped the BBC Sound of 2010 list and will receive the Critics Choice Award at the Brits on February 16th.

Ellie Goulding has come top of the BBC Sound of 2010 list, which showcases the best rising music stars for the coming year.

The Sound of 2010 was compiled using tips from 165 leading UK tastemakers, including top music critics, magazine editors, broadcasters and influential bloggers, who named their favourite three new acts.

The news follows the announcement last month that Ellie has scooped the Brit Awards Critics’ Choice prize for the act most likely to break through this year. She will collect her award live on stage at Earls Court at the Brit Awards on February 16th.

Touring since 2008 supporting artists such as Little Boots and Passion Pit, she released her debut single Under The Sheets on November 9th 2009. The track was produced by Starsmith, who she has been working with since the very beginning of her career. Her debut album will be released on the 1st of March 2010 and is named Lights.

Ellie was studying drama at university when she struck upon the style that has made her the most hotly-tipped new artist on the music scene. Armed only with an acoustic guitar, she was struggling to find her voice. But after being introduced to a futuristic dance scene by a flatmate, she combined the two styles to create songs that are delicate and personal while also being cutting-edge and club-friendly.
