+ STRIKKLY VIKKLY DUBSYSTEM

Dreadzone have seen many different trends come and go as well as an ever-changing line up which has ensured their sound has always stayed fresh and consistent in quality. Since those early days they have notched up in excess of 125k album sales, created a reputation for a stunning live show and garnered support from legends such as Annie Nightingale and the late, great John Peel. They were the originators of a unique sound that has left a lasting impression on an ever-growing fan base.

The Dreadz have come a long way since 1993 and the first album ‘360°’, moving on to the success of the seminal ‘Second Light’, through the follow up of ‘Biological Radio’ and into the next chapter which saw the creation of a club night ‘Dubwiser’, a club 12 with Fingerlickin Records and their fourth album ‘Sound’.

A productive period saw the birth of the Dreadzone Sound System, which pushed the ‘DJ’ perspective further, ensuring they stayed at the cutting edge and shaping their new material throughout the last few years, leading to the first release on their new label Functional, with Dreadzone Sound System’s DJ mix album ‘Beatz & Bobz Volume 4’ dropping in Feb 2005.

‘Once Upon A Time', the bands latest release, is an album that puts Dreadzone firmly back into the frame with a new collection that draws on the influence of the sound system, but takes it beyond the confines of the dancefloor, never forgetting that what counts is the tunes and the different environments that an album is listened to, whether at home, the car, the I-Pod or anywhere else you can appreciate its hours worth of dub-drenched feel good rhythms.

Sadly in October 2006 it was announced on the Dreadzone forums that guitarist Steve Roberts; the brother of Greg Roberts had died. In May 2007 Chris Compton and Chris Oldfield (DJ, producer and lighting designer) joined the line up. In between a packed touring schedule in 2009 the band recorded their sixth studio album ‘Eye on the Horizon’, which is due to be released in spring 2010.
