Jonas Erik Altberg is Basshunter – a Swedish producer and singer songwriter. He began producing music under the name Basshunter in 2002 and released his first albums The Old Shit (2002) and The Bassmachine (2004) through his own website. He describes his style of music as Eurodance.

He signed to Warner Music in 2006 and released his debut single ‘Boten Anna’, which became an instant hit in Scandinavia. In 2007 Altberg released the single ‘Now You’re Gone’, which features entirely rewritten lyrics to appeal to a foreign market. The song shot straight to the number one spot on the UK singles chart and remained there for four weeks.

In 2008 he released Now You’re Gone: The Album, featuring the hit singles Now You’re Gone, All I Ever Wanted, Angel In The Night, I Miss You and Walk On Water.

More recently Basshunter was a contestant on the final series of Celebrity Big Brother in the UK. He reached the final show and finished in fourth place.

His fifth and latest studio album Bass Generation was released in September 2009 and is filled with floor-filling eurodance/techno tracks that are set to keep you dancing all night long.

Basshunter will be performing live at Manchester Academy on Sunday 11th July.
